All cut from the same kind of cloth that gets used and thrown back into a drawer over and over again, the original members of The Dead Bolts found each other in 2018. In a manner some would regard as premature, having only practiced twice, the band found themselves booked solid in watering holes and Irish pubs around their native south side Chicago neighborhoods. It was tucked into the corners of these establishments playing extremely loud and not very well for 4+ hours a night, where the band would cut their teeth among swells of underaged college kids, just like them, that had flooded in to drink and scream the lyrics of the same set of songs every weekend.
When they each finally wrapped up their academic careers in 2020, they got to work on putting together their first full length album. The song writing wore a few different hats, with an eclectic mix of songs reflective of what music they were into at the time. Historically speaking, they might have picked the toughest year to record, but they navigated their way through a few different studios and engineers to sculpt and finish their debut LP, Pretty And Burnt Out released in the Fall of 2021. They sold out their album release show at the locally adored Schubas Tavern, and what ensued after that was 2 years of DIY touring the U.S. in the lead singer Eddie’s mid size SUV. After a few more successful shows over the years, they continue to independently tour but have since upgraded to a used 2008 Ford E350 Van that they lovingly named “Vancis”. Vancis is very important to the band.
As of late, The Dead Bolts find themselves in the studio recording an album they set out to write with the intention of every single track being able to stand alone as a single if it needed to. New studio. New producer. New sound. Something adjacent to the current modern state of Rock, with their own stamp on it. They’ve teased a few singles that came out last year under their old production model, that are now being reworked to fit the mold of this project and new identity. This isn’t technically a new band, but it’s definitely a new version of them. Their 2nd album is expected to come out at the very beginning of 2025, with some of their biggest shows yet to follow.
