Jimmy Dale Gilmore has been writing and playing songs for more than 50 years, earning countless accolades from the Recording Academy and critics alike - and alongside Joe Ely and Butch Hancock, his legendary band The Flatlanders are widely credited as the founding fathers of the Alt. Country movement.
Dave Alvin puts a part of himself in every note, describing his songs as reminiscent of his homestate of California - "a big, messy melting pot". From blues, folk, rockabilly, country, surf and garage rock instrumentals, to lyrics inspired from great authors like John Steinbeck and Raymond Chandler, his "baroom guitar" sound can't be narrowed down to just one genre.
